Bachata dancing is gaining popularity all over the world and in Copenhagen with its romantic music, contagious rythms and flowing dance movements. Join in and get in the groove, no matter your age or dancing experience; you don’t need a partner to sign up, just a desire to learn and be part of a vibrant dancing family!

ABOUT BACHATA: history and styles

Originally from Dominican Republic, Bachata developed in the 1960’s from the traditional dance Bolero. Bachata has become very popular in the USA and Europe in the last 10-20 years, and it is now being influenced by other styles such as Brazilian Zouk, Tango and Pop Music. Salsa and Bachata accompany each other perfectly in the social dance club as Salsa music often is faster and more upbeat and Bachata slower and more relaxed. There are quite a few different styles of bachata dancing, and they are often devided into these groups: Dominican Bachata (authentic), Bachata Fusion (or Modern), Bachata Sensual, and others. We teach the most common style on the social dance floor in Copenhagen which is Bachata Fusion.

Never tried bachata before or would you like to review the basics? Then this class is for you!

CLASS INFO

We are dancing in a easy-to-follow tempo and we will guide you through each move step-by-step in our stress-free & friendly learning environment! No partner needed and no previous experience in bachata or other dance is required, only a desire to learn and having fun!

IN THESE CLASSES YOU WILL LEARN:
✧ The bachata basic steps, turns and body movement.
✧ Fundamental partnering techniques and roles.
✧ Understanding of bachata timing and rhythm, as well as posture, turns and more.

HOW LONG SHOULD I STAY IN THIS LEVEL?
We recommend to move on to level 2 only if you are in control of the basics. Take this course again if you need some repetition, no need to rush! 😀 Many also take both levels 1 and 2, to get more repetition while learning something new. If you are unsure, ask your teachers or contact us.

Get into details with partnerwork leading and following techniques and learn new turns and combinations.

CLASS INFO

ATTEND THESE CLASSES, IF YOU:
✓ You have strong foundations in all basic Bachata turns, combinations and leading/following techniques, and are looking for a challenge.
✓ Understand Bachata timing and basics.
✓ Bachata dancing experience: min. 6 months. You have completed at least one beginners or improvers course and dance regularly at social parties.

IN THESE CLASSES YOU WILL LEARN:
✧ Turn patterns and combination to be used in the social dance floor.
✧ Body movement, waves, footwork and styling.
✧ Musicality and leading/following techniques.
