Welcome to bachata

Beautiful music, soft rhythms and flowing movement. Bachata is more popular in Copenhagen – and worldwide – than ever before. If you want real connection with your partner and plenty of flow in your dancing, bachata is for you. Come and join our dance family, whatever your age or experience.

Bachata comes from the Dominican Republic, where it grew out of the traditional bolero in the 1960s. Over the past ten to twenty years it has become hugely popular in the US and Europe, absorbing influences from zouk, tango and pop music along the way.

It is danced widely in the clubs today as a welcome change of pace from fast, high-energy salsa. Bachata is still evolving, and divides broadly into styles such as bachata fusion (bachata moderna), Dominican bachata and sensual bachata. In Denmark, bachata fusion is the most popular on the dance floor.
